There was no new reading assigned for this week but I did the bonus reading anyways because I had time this week for the first time in forever! I read Italian fairy tales and really enjoyed it. My favorite story was “Water and Salt”. We didn’t have to write a story this week but I enjoyed looking back at the progress I have made throughout the semester and reflecting on how I have done and what I could do to improve. I also enjoyed finding a motivational graphic for one of the assignments because I live for those quotes. I always enjoy reading stories written by others in this class. One of them really surprised me because of how different their new story was compared to the original one. They also extended the story quite a bit and added dialogue to make it a completely different story. I was shocked when I found out what the original story was and how successful they were at keeping the original central message the same but changing everything else such as the setting, characters, an...

The readings this week were as wonderful as ever! I did both portions of the reading and the extra reading! The Chinese Folk-Lore readings stood out to me the most because they didn’t follow the usual storylines that I am used to reading so I couldn’t predict the outcome. For example, I was really surprised when I read the story “Cave of the Beasts” because I have never read a story where the dad wanted to abandon his kids in the forest because they ate his eggs. I also really enjoyed what I wrote this week too. I immediately added my story to my portfolio after I wrote it because I liked how I changed the ending. I loved all of the stories I read by other people. Some of my favorites written by other people had a really great build up in plot and suspense. I like stories that are unpredictable. My other classes are killing me as usual but I finally finished all of my tests this week so life is going to be so much better! I also found a connection between this class and my Human Phy...

Reading this week went well, I made time to do both parts of the reading as well as the extra credit reading. I liked reading Arabian nights to compare the story of Aladdin to the one that I was used to watching on Disney growing up. I also really enjoyed the parrot in Tales of a Parrot who tried to keep the main mistress from committing adultery while her husband was out of town by telling her stories to captivate her attention and keep her from leaving. I thought it was a comical story line and super interesting to read as well. I sadly ended up not having time to write my story this week because I was too busy drowning in my other classes. I usually put a lot of time into writing because I like to plan out what I want to write before I write it and I didn’t want to rush the writing for this class because then I would end up with a story that I am not proud of. The readings were wonderful this week! I really liked all of the stories from Twenty-Two Goblins. The riddles proposed by the goblin were so thought provoking and I was curious to how any of them could be answered. I had time to do both portions and the bonus reading as well. I had to rush when writing the story this week because I became really sick after going to the state fair so the story is not as detailed as I would like it to be. I did not have time to relax and take a deep breath when writing; I had to just force words onto the page. I loved all of the portfolio stories that I read as well as the storybook introductions. Most of them left me in awe and I wanted more because they were all so interesting. It also gave me more ideas on how I want to design my portfolio. My other classes are a bit overwhelming. I feel like I am getting buried in workload and I fell more and more behind this week because I could not concentrate on anything while being sick. I also have had to host ...

The reading was wonderful this week! It was really difficult for me to decide on just one unit to read from last week and it made me so much happier this week to be able to choose from another unit to read. I had enough time to do both portions of the reading because I worked ahead and read when I had time before I became really busy during the week. I remember the trickster stories the best from Aesop’s fables. I think all of the trickster stories are so interesting because there’s always a cunning and sly character and we get to see how they try to get what they want or we see someone else trick the trickster. My best writing this week was in this class for sure! The only other writing I had to do was a long lab report for my microbiology lab. I haven’t tried writing with a different style but I really enjoyed my story this week. I just relax and listen to music while I write to get into the writer’s groove. The readings were great this week! I was so sad that I had to narrow it down to just one reading unit. All of them were so interesting and the part that took me the longest was deciding which unit I wanted to go with. I ended up reading a majority of them before I could finally decide which one I wanted to stick with. I remembered the Aesop’s Fables unit the best because each one ends in a nice summed up moral of the story. I also ended up reading both the one by Winter and Jacobs. The best writing I have done this week is definitely for this class. The only other papers I have had to write are my lab reports for my science classes and essays for my perspectives on U.S. economic policies class which were tiresome. I really do enjoy reading and writing for this class, I consider it more of a destressing activity rather than work I have to do. I loved all of the readings this week, I found myself going to the readings as a break from my other stressful classes. I had time to read both potions of the reading because I always make sure to work ahead for this class so that I am not behind. I have not written stories or essays in a long time because all of my classes are science heavy so this class was the only class I wrote for this week and I enjoyed it. I was scared at first because I thought I would struggle since I have never retold a story from an original story before but I think it well pretty well. I also liked the list of suggestions given to us on how we could change the original story so that I could get ideas flowing through while reading the stories. I read a lot of other stories that were posted and I loved them all to death, everyone in this class is so creative and put a twist on the stories in a way that I would never have thought to do.
