Introduction to an Adventurous Girl

If I could sum myself up in one word, it would have to be clumsy! I once dislocated my knee while watching a movie and I have sprained my ankle quite a few times from falling down the stairs or just tripping over air. I am a micro-biology major entering into my junior year at OU. I aspire to be a physician’s associate one day in urgent care and then pediatric orthopedics. I have insanely over protective parents, so this one time when I got a nose bleed, they called 911... I have 3 older siblings (yes, the last time we took a picture together was my high school graduation). I hear a lot of people say that they don't get along with their siblings but I spend a lot of time hanging out with my brothers and sister.

I love being outdoors so I was mostly outside this summer playing volleyball, swimming, hiking, playing tennis, and getting really bad sunburns. I also took a road trip to Destin, Florida with my family this summer. We left for vacation right after I finished my finals for the spring semester and I hadn’t slept much that past week to study for my finals so to avoid falling asleep while driving to Florida, I sang the entire way there and lost my voice. I got weird looks everywhere I went as I attempted to do charades to get my point across. We spent most of our time at the beautiful beach with white sand and emerald water but I sadly could not successfully capture the moment in a photo because the photos I took look nothing like the actual beach. Aside from losing my voice, it was very enjoyable and relaxing.

I stress bake in my free time because what is stressed spelled backwards other than desserts? I am definitely a foodie, I love travelling to new places to try different kinds of food! My favorite dessert is matcha green tea ice cream but my favorite place that sells this ice cream is called Matcha Love in Plano, Dallas so I’ll find myself taking road trips just to go eat. I recently took a road trip with my friends to Dallas and we literally ate every single hour to make our road trip worth it. I was in a food coma the entire day!

To work off all of this food that I eat, I run around the park with my dog Leo. He is a super energetic golden doodle that I love to death!

I also cook so I don’t have to spend too much money on eating out all the time. My favorite type of food is Korean food, it used to be Italian food but I have been working at an Italian restaurant for almost 5 years, so now I am really tired of eating Italian food all the time. Not only do I like trying different types of food, I also like learning to do new things such as crocheting, knitting, folding origami, painting, and more! I am currently trying to learn how to ride a skateboard and I have the scrapes and bruises to prove it.

  1. Ohhhh, that ice cream looks SO GOOD, Rosa! And your Leo is so cute: maybe he will make an appearance in some of your stories this semester. Animal stories are a huge part of the world's storytelling traditions, and your dog could become part of that animal story world. Ice cream is a more modern thing, of course, so you won't find it in the ancient myths and legends... but I can certainly imagine ice cream desserts inspired by world mythology. And I hope you will enjoy the class!

  2. Ok, whoa, first off, stressed spelled backwards is desserts?! I'm mindblown, hahha. I can't believe I didn't know that! But anyways, wow, you drove all the way to Florida after finals? That must've been tough! Glad you made it and had a good time, aside from the voice issues.. Be careful riding your skateboard! Hope you don't get hurt too badly!

  3. I can totally relate with being clumsy! I refuse to buy any dishes that aren't plastic because I drop everything and don't want to deal with broken glass/china every other week! I used to live on the Emerald Coast in Florida, maybe 20 minutes from Destin and you are totally right! Photos will never truly capture the beauty that is the beaches there! I am super impressed you are majoring in Microbiology, my boyfriend is taking that class right now and everything he tells me about it just goes right over my head! I like all other disciplines of science, but if there is one I wish I knew more about it is Biology! Love seeing girls in science majors! Keep killing it!

  4. Hi Rosa! I also love ice cream! I worked in an ice cream store one summer, and I for sure did not grow tired of it. Cooking is a lot cheaper, and gives you more flexibility in what to eat. What is your favorite origami that you've made? I used to enjoy origami a lot, but I haven't done much since starting college.

  5. Hey Rosa, I am also a foodie although I suck at cooking and baking. I love ice cream although I haven't had any in a while and your dog is adorable. I've always wanted to get a golden doodle but just haven't yet. What would you say is your favorite thing to cook? what is your favorite song to sing?

  6. Hey there, Rosa. I wish I stressed baked. I'd have a much easier time with life if I made desserts when I was stressed. That matcha ice cream looks delicious.

I can also relate to you on losing my voice and using charades that communicate. I listen to a lot of metal, and that screaming will take it out of you. So please understand, you aren't alone in that.

I notice in the picture with leo, there seems to be a stringed instrument of sorts. Would be correct to venture to say a guitar? Is it your guitar? I know you said you're trying to learn a lot of new things, is that one of them?

  7. Wow I loved your introduction Rosa!! So much fun stuff! I'm sorry about you being so clumsy - I totally relate to that! And I loved that you are so close with your siblings! It's so easy to fight with them but they really are your built in best friends! And your dog!!!! I'm dead. Leo the Golden Doodle is every. thing. If you ever need a dog sitter please hit me up asap. I'm so glad that you have cooking as a stress outlet - that's so important in college! Have a great week!

  8. Hey Rosa,
OMG! Your dog is the cutest thing. I love seeing everyone pets in their introduction posts. You look really familiar, I am a biology major, so maybe we have had a class together? I want to say it was physics. Anyway, I also love food, in fact my family actually revolves our vacation around places to eat. My dad loves FoodNetwork, so of course if he sees a place near where we are going that has been on one of the shows, we have to go. Great post! Have a great rest of your week.

  9. Hi Rosa!
I can relate to the whole tripping over air ordeal...I think someone just puts a string out in front of us and hides before we notice. Or at least that's what I tell myself when I trip over air on campus 742697426x a day, haha!
That's awesome that you lost your voice in an effort to avoid sleeping! I would be doing the exact opposite if I must say so myself! Being in the car always puts me to sleep and finals week has me falling asleep standing up usually. I applaud you for that!
Nothing is better than the great outdoors! That's awesome that you enjoy it and got to spend time relaxing on the beach!
I have got to try that ice cream place out sometime on my way home to Houston! Green tea is my favorite flavor as well, but I think I could eat any flavored ice cream that is served to me looking like that picture!
    Thanks for sharing!

  10. Hi Rosa!
Your dog is so cute! I have a German Shepherd, and I hate leaving home because of him. But, I love that you also are a foodie! I am too. It's been hard getting my routine in check with school, work, and cooking, but I hope to be back on track soon. You mentioned you like trying new foods. Have you tried Indian food before? It's so good. If you ever want a place recommendation, I would be more than glad to help. Looking forward to reading your stories! Nice to meet you!

  11. Hi Rosa!
Your summer sounds like it was so fun! At this point in the semester, playing tennis and hiking (and even getting sunburned) sound like the best thing ever. I went to Florida when I was younger and I remember being impressed by how clear and blue the water was. Your picture shows that off so well! That ice cream looks amazing; one of my favorite things is green tea Kit Kats! Good luck with your semester and the pre-PA requirements!

  12. Hi Rosa! Funny story I dislocated my knee when I was stretching after a track workout, so I Understand how painful it is. I love that you stress bake! I am not much of a baker, but I wish i was. Although I think I would eat entirely too many desserts if I was actually good at baking. I am from Dallas and would love to know where that green tea ice cream is from.

  13. Hi Rosa, hope your semester is going well! First, such a cool dog, he seems like he has quite the personality! Sidenote, your post made me very hungry! I don't know if that was intentional, but that was the result! Lastly, I think your transition into your career goals was very funny! I hope to go into the medical field as well, so maybe i'll see you around. Best of luck!

  14. Hi Rosal thanks for sharing your introduction! I have a friend who is also really accident prone too, that is funny! I am such a foodie too I love that you shared that picture of your ice cream it makes me really want to try that place next time I am in Dallas. Your dog is so cute!! I really want a golden doodle. Anyways, good luck with school this year and happy blogging!

  15. Rosa, first of all, I think the name of your blog is very clever! It is so funny that your parents are that overprotective, but I guess that is way better than not caring! It is so great that you get along well with your siblings (my sister is so rebellious and troublesome). I also love to bake, but I'm not very good. It definitely is a stress relieving activity. Well, it seems like you have a solid plan for the future. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to read some of your work in the coming weeks!

  16. Hey Rosa,
I also have siblings and really enjoying hanging out with them too! I have never heard of the “stressed spelled backwards is desserts” but I plan on borrowing it. Best saying I have ever heard. I also enjoy to stress eat/cook. If you ever want to try to learn new techniques I enjoy taking some of the random baking class at the Moore Norman Technology Center. I have taken a pie baking class with them and it was really fun. Good luck learning how to skateboard and try to be careful! Good luck in the class.

  17. Hi Rosa!
First of all, I really like the design and layout you have chosen for your blog. I also like the personal image you have incorporated into your introduction. I think it gives your blog a nice touch! I think it’s cool that you are a microbiology major and that you plan on becoming a physician assistant! I hope you are having a good semester so far and I can’t wait to explore the rest of your blog!
