Learning Challenge: Empathy

I took developmental psychology last year and learned at what age kids normally develop empathy so I focused on observing children to see how they express empathy. I went to the park with my family to play volleyball and while taking a water break, I noticed a kid fall over on the playground. As soon as he started crying, another kid came running over and sat down to cry with the hurt child even though he wasn't hurt from anything. I want to be able to express the level of empathy the child expressed to where I could feel the same emotions the person in pain feels so I could know how to give advice or how to help.
